Learning to care for subjects during adulthood, the longest and most rapidly changing period of life, requires understanding not only the physical health level of the subject, but also the roles, lifestyles, values, and psychological aspects of the family and society in which the person has lived.
Adult Nursing at our university is conducted by faculty members with a high level of expertise in a wide variety of fields. Each faculty member teaches from a variety of nursing perspectives, providing an education that enables students to understand the diversity and individuality of the adult population. Practical training and exercises are conducted in small groups, creating an environment in which students are actively engaged in their studies.
We have a system in place where faculty members and clinical instructors (nurses) are always ready to support students in situations where they may feel confused or anxious for the first time, such as practical training at a hospital. Through these learning environments, we aim to educate students so that they can look at themselves and have challenges and perspectives for the future.
This course provides a comprehensive study of the characteristics and health problems of the adult target population. Students will acquire basic knowledge of concepts and nursing theories (crisis theory, stress coping, adaptation theory, self-care theory, adult learning theory, self-efficacy, etc.) that are important for understanding the subject and deepen their understanding of adult nursing.
Students will understand the characteristics of subjects in critical situations such as acute onset or acute exacerbation of chronic diseases, and learn basic knowledge, skills, and assistance in critical care, perioperative, and emergency nursing. Classes will incorporate lectures and exercises.
Students will learn basic knowledge, skills, and assistance for understanding the characteristics of subjects with chronic diseases and long-term health problems or in the rehabilitation phase, enhancing self-care skills, and living a person's own life.
Students will understand the characteristics of patients who need palliative care and learn basic knowledge, skills, and assistance to alleviate holistic pain and suffering. Students will also acquire knowledge, skills, and assistance in cancer nursing.
In the Adult Nursing Practicum, students develop the basic skills to practice evidence-based nursing that aims to improve, maintain, and promote the health level and quality of life of patients based on their individual characteristics, as well as the attitude and ethical attitude necessary to understand the subject. Students will also learn to understand the role of nurses in the healthcare team and multidisciplinary collaboration.
